Garden and Deck Pictures

Just a few pictures to show the progress in my backyard. I'm so happy with the work that has been done.

The deck is so inviting now, and I just love to sit and read under the awning.

another view of garden A view from the side showing the new fountain that replaces the pond. The small rock formation in the foreground is the small pond that I kept. The plants that I put between the pavers are doing well, and I hope that by the fall they fill in the entire areas between the stones.

Garden progress update...

I've been so busy with the yard and deck lately, that I haven't had time to post. The deck is finally completed and all of the hard work has paid off. Today is the first day in such a long time that I've been inside, that I thought that I would post the progress that has been made in my yard makeover.

First, I built a dry stack wall using up the flagstone that was once my large pond. As my first attempt at doing this type of work, I feel really good about the results. Second, I took the larger rocks that made up the waterfall and used them to make up the rock garden on the hill. I transplanted some of my creeping plants and added some rosemary, various varieties of thyme, coneflowers, lavender and coriopsis. The only problem with this garden so far is that the bunnies are keeping my coneflowers from growing!

I also made a small patio in the location of the pond and will plant the area with "stepables" that I purchased from the local nursery. (I just hope a flat is enough.) I plan to purchase a small concrete bench and a bubbling water fountain to complete this area.
I'm a little behind with pictures, but I plan to take quite a few to show off the new deck and gardens. Then I think I'll kick back and enjoy a margarita on my new deck furniture under the great retractable awning the we had installed.
