Retired and quilting

Retired 8 months now and haven’t missed working at all after 47 years. So many things that I want to do. Quilt, travel and spend time with family. Hopeful that the world will soon be done with these trying times we are currently in. Wearing masks in public places really sucks. I always enjoyed seeing others smiling faces. Now the eyes of others only show fear. I just pray for the year to be better. When I don’t have to wear a mask, I take total advantage of it and smile at everyone I meet. Maybe this will be the year that all the mandates stop.

I hope to be better at posting in the future. Something for my children and grandchildren to look back on and smile at the things I’ve done. Somewhat of a digital diary of my accomplishments.

Hello 2015

Wow! I can't believe that it's been a year since I posted here. Sometimes live gets in the way.

The year was a great one for me. I met my number one goal of losing weight by changing my eating habits. Currently I am 50 pounds down and feel so much better. Eating farm to table has been the best thing we could have done. The food has been fantastic and it wasn't difficult at all to create meals using the weekly bounty of food. Looking forward to doing it again in this new year.

My third grandchild was born in early December. Such a sweet little boy and such a joy for my daughter and son-in-law. Looking forward to watching him grow.

Another highlight of the year was a culinary trip to San Diego California to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We had so much fun and got a lot of great recipes. Will definitely do another culinary trip again.

This year I will work to maintain the weight loss and possibly try to lose more. Daily walks and yoga practice is helping to keep me fit. Happy New year! Happy new me!

Goodbye 2013...Welcome 2014

I've been a bad blogger in 2013........ Not many posts this year. Hoping to improve my posting in 2014.

In 2014 I hope to improve my health, fitness and overall well being. I'm doing yoga at work 2 days a week and will try to do more at home. I joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Program that starts in March. My vow to eat healthy and local.  It will be interesting to see what I get each week and plan my meals around the bounty. I'm going to try to commit to trying to improve my photography as well, so I'm going to try the 365 program. One photo every day for a year. I'll try to post them here on a weekly or monthly basis. I also plan to work on my quilting by doing scrappy projects and finishing up some of the UFO's I've accumulated.

I could go on, but I think this is plenty for my plate!

What a wish list! Looking forward to 2014....

Stitching History

It was a great privilege to be a part of the community of stitchers that recreated the Star Spangled Banner Flag that flew over Ft. McHenry on Defenders Day.

The day was beautiful and the flag was finally raised. What a joyous site to behold, a day I'll never forget.
